The Community Development Agency (CDA) serves the housing and business development needs of 11 cities - Carver, Chanhassen, Chaska, Cologne, Hamburg, Mayer, New Germany, Norwood Young America, Victoria, Waconia, Watertown -- and nine townships in Carver County, Minnesota.
Located 20 miles southwest of Minneapolis, Carver County is one of the fastest growing counties in the Twin Cities metro area - in population, housing and business expansions.
- Population is expected to approach 200,000 by 2030, three times the number of residents since 1990.
- The County has one of the strongest housing markets in the metro area, outperforming the region even during the recent housing slowdown.
- New business developments are underway throughout Carver County -- including a major Bio-Science Corporate Campus in Chaska (see link below), an open-air lifestyle center in Chanhassen, two industrial parks in Norwood Young America, a new industrial park in Watertown (see link below), the InterLaken mixed-use development and the Pine Business Park in Waconia.
Growth has been spurred by the long-awaited Highway 212 extension and other major highway improvements. It's supported by a growing recognition of Carver County's outstanding quality of life. |
